The work
About the work.
This artwork reflects on the silent evolution of family life, exploring how connection can subtly shift into distance over time. Built around memories of domestic spaces—specifically the dining table—the piece observes the unspoken weight of addiction, mood shifts, and childhood observations that shaped personal boundaries. Mealtimes, once intended as moments of shared nourishment, gradually became charged with tension, silence, and things left unsaid. The high-contrast figures and stark geometric shadows create a sense of emotional confinement, capturing the feeling of being held prisoner by past memories within the walls of a home. Beyond the immediate family unit, the work explores a wider contemplation of loneliness and isolation—the physical and psychological space between individuals who sit together yet remain worlds apart. It is a quiet study on domestic dysfunction, memory, and the unspoken distances we navigate in close quarters.
